Basic knowledge of shock absorbing rubber products

1. Static stiffness: refers to the ratio of the change of pressure (or tensile force) to the change of displacement in a given displacement range. The static stiffness must be measured within a certain displacement range. The static stiffness values measured in different displacement ranges are different, but some families require the change curve measured in the whole displacement range.

2. Dynamic stiffness: It refers to the ratio of the change of pressure (or tensile force) to the change of displacement of damping rubber in a certain displacement range and a certain frequency.

3. dynamic magnification: the ratio of the dynamic stiffness to the static stiffness measured by the damping rubber in a certain range of displacement.

4. Loss coefficient: There is a phase difference between the deformation of rubber and the stress of rubber in the course of the force acting on damping rubber, and the stress of rubber is generally ahead of the phase angle of the deformation of rubber.

5. Torsional stiffness: refers to the ratio of torsional moment to torsional angle of damping rubber within a certain range of torsional angle.

6. Durability: It refers to the number of times of vibration when the rubber is in good condition after n times of reciprocating vibration under certain preloading load, amplitude and vibration frequency in a certain direction. Thanks for the help and support of Chongqing Feilong Jiangli Auto Parts technical department.

Transtar Industries announced the launch of its newest brand, Transmaxx, a line of customer-driven remanufactured transmission products.
Transtar partnered with ETE REMAN to launch three remanufactured-transmission electro-hydraulic control modules (TEHCMs) designed for General Motors six-speed-transmission applications.
Backed by a one-year unlimited warranty administered by ATSG, “each TEHCM is meticulously repurposed to ensure optimum performance and reliability,” according to Transtar.
“Our focus with Transmaxx is to bring to market-innovative remanufactured product solutions not currently available that solve customer repair shop needs,” said Neil Sethi, president and CEO of Transtar Holding Co. “Coupled with the backing of world-class organizations like ETE REMAN and ATSG and adding innovative technology solutions like Transtar RAP kit and Transend online ordering, we are very excited about evolving Transmaxx to become the go-to reman transmission brand for a broad array of product solutions.”
The product, along with the Transtar RAP kit for reprogramming, offers a complete repair solution for TEHCM needs, Transtar asserted.
“We’ve enjoyed a long and mutually beneficial partnership with Transtar. We can’t think of a better partner to launch our first TEHCM product offering,” said Noah Rickun, CEO of ETE REMAN. “Our commitment to quality sets us apart in the automotive aftermarket industry, and Transmaxx will offer the ultimate remanufactured product experience that only Transtar can provide.”
Transmaxx will be available exclusively at all Transtar, King-O-Matic and Transmart locations across North America and available online at Transend.

The Volkswagen Group is utilizing DCC Pro electronically controlled shock absorbers from KYB Corp. to equip new Tiguan, Passat Variant, SKODA Superb and Kodiaq models.
The new models are scheduled to hit the market in the first quarter of 2024.
DCC Pro (Dynamics Chassis Control Pro) systems use double-valve shock absorbers to independently control the extension and compression oscillations caused by the car body and the wheel movements while driving.
These valves react to road conditions and driving situations in a few milliseconds, according to KYB. The ECU activates the respective extension and compression solenoids to adjust independently the internal pressure of the shock absorber to suit road conditions and the driver’s preference (from comfortable to very sporty).
The damping characteristics are automatically adjusted in a continuous way, which, in conjunction with the full independence between extension and compression movements, “brings the vehicle comfort and control to the highest level.”
“This provides safe, dynamic maneuverability and an unprecedented ‘flying-carpet’ ride experience,” KYB adds.
KYB and the VW Group have been working together for several years. Since collaborating on the Audi RS suspension, KYB and Volkswagen have cooperated extensively for the VW brand.
“KYB will continue growing in advanced technologies that provide high added value to our customers in these challenging times for the automotive sector,” the company said in a news release.
