NTN Bearing Corp. of America is sharing its story of support for a local animal rescue.
On Nov. 16, NTN donated a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van with its cargo hold full of supplies to Wright-Way Rescue, but it didn’t happen without a bit of good fortune.
In October, Wright-Way Rescue, an animal rescue organization based in Morton Grove, Illinois, had an accident with a van used for its animal-rescue missions. The accident rendered the van a total loss with an insurance payout that would not be sufficient to purchase a replacement vehicle.
With countless animal lives hanging in the balance, Wright-Way put out a call to the community to help raise funds for a replacement vehicle.
Meanwhile, NTN recently had replaced its Technical Training Unit van, and had begun looking for a deserving home for the previous van, a 2011 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500.
Even after 12 years of onsite bearing-training service, the van has been well-maintained and has a lot of useful life left in it, according to NTN. The NTN team contacted multiple charities looking for a cause that could make good use of the van, but had not found the right fit. And that’s when the stars aligned.
Wright-Way’s call for help was picked up by local Chicago media outlets, and the headline “Suburban Rescue in ‘Dire’ Need of New Van to Save Animals from Being Euthanized” came to the attention of the NTN team.
NTN reached out to Christy Anderson, founder of Wright-Way, to see if the van would help get the organization back on the road, and she was thrilled to accept our donation offer. Because of its former duty, the van is equipped with a loading ramp, shelving and a cargo bulkhead, which all will be very useful for its new mission with Wright-Way.
“We were looking for a good home for our technical training van, and we feel fortunate to have found a deserving organization, in urgent need, based less than 10 miles away from our U.S. headquarters,” said Pete Eich, president and CEO. “Wright-Way Rescue fulfills a critical role in our community, saving the lives of dogs and cats on a daily basis, and we are thrilled that our van will go from bearing training duty to animal rescue duty. When we shared this news internally, our employees opened their hearts and filled the van with much needed supplies for Wright-Way, making an even bigger impact. I couldn’t be more proud of the NTN team.”
On Nov. 16, a group of NTN employees delivered the van to Wright-Way’s Morton Grove location. The NTN team was greeted by the grateful team from Wright-Way Rescue to hand off the vehicle, tour their facility and meet some of the animals Wright-Way works so hard to rescue.
At the end of the day, Wright-Way had gained a much-needed vehicle and supplies, and the NTN team had gained the satisfaction that they were able to help a deserving organization in the community. Wright-Way also was left with one less dog to find a home for, as a member of the NTN HR team fell in love with a puppy and had to take her home.
NTN launched a new Community Spirit and Engagement Policy in January 2023, with the purpose of managing the company in a responsible and ethical manner and making a positive impact on the communities in which the company operates. The goals of the policy include maintaining a community involvement program that contributes time and resources to charitable organizations and encourages employees to have an active role within the local community, and making positive contributions to the community and building partnerships with other groups and organizations, according to NTN.
“NTN’s donation of this vehicle to Wright-Way Rescue aligns perfectly with the goals of NTN’s Community Spirit and Engagement Policy,” said Brad Fideli, director, human resources. “The effort of our team to go the extra-mile in collecting needed supplies from our employees and community are a great example of the impact a program like ours can have. We are proud to contribute to our community and build relationships with wonderful organizations like Wright-Way.”

Advance Auto Parts has announced a $25,000 donation to Breathitt County Area Technology Center, a technical school in Jackson, Kentucky, that serves approximately 400 local students in grades 8-12.
The donated funds will assist with rebuilding efforts of the school’s automotive technology program following the devastating flooding that impacted Eastern Kentucky over the summer.
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, team members from Advance presented the donation to Breathitt County Area Technology Center principal Joseph Mayabb and auto tech instructor Darryl Cole at Hazard Community and Technical College, Lees College Campus, in Jackson.
Breathitt County Area Technology Center will hold classes and all operations at Hazard Community and Technical College for the foreseeable future.
“Our friends, neighbors and communities in Kentucky are still hurting,” said Advance district manager and Kentucky resident Matt Belcher. “During this difficult time, our local team is humbled and grateful to help Breathitt’s auto tech program and their students with this donation. We admire Breathitt’s educators and staff for the work they do in training future auto technicians. Together, we can work toward rebuilding communities across Eastern Kentucky.”
Breathitt County Area Technology Center experienced significant damage throughout its campus. Flood waters reached more than 5 feet in some places, destroying most of the automotive training tools and other essential items in the building. Advance’s donation will help replace equipment used by auto tech instructors and students.
“This has been a very difficult time for everyone in our community,” said Breathitt County Area Technology Center’s principal, Joseph Mayabb. “Although we are down, we are not out. With an incredible staff of instructors who are taking care of these students and their needs, and generous partners and businesses such as Advance Auto Parts, we will continue to educate our students and position them for growth and success.”
Breathitt County Area Technology Center offers five career pathways for students: auto tech, business, carpentry, electricity and health sciences. Students enrolling in the auto tech program learn to diagnose, repair and maintain all types of vehicles and vehicle functions, such as brake and electrical systems; engines and transmissions; suspension; steering; and heating and cooling systems.

WD-40 Brand is auctioning its classic 1951 Chevrolet 3100 to benefit SEMA Cares charities, including Childhelp.

WD-40 Brand and SEMA Cares partnered with Trad Ronfeldt to rebuild the WD-40 Brand/SEMA Cares Custom 1951 Chevrolet 3100, which debuted at the 2021 SEMA Show at the WD-40 Brand booth. All of the proceeds from the auction will go to SEMA Cares Charities, including Childhelp, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.
Ronfeldt – a seasoned automotive mechanic, fabricator, welder, and professional off-road crew chief – had an ambitious plan to rebuild the vehicle from the ground up. He wanted to create something that looked like it just rolled off the production line, and he accomplished this and more.
The 1951 Chevrolet 3100 is now a road-ready vehicle that maintains its classic look with a custom-built dually rear-end, backed by added horsepower and superior performance. Ronfeldt fabricated the truck bed from new materials to imitate the truck’s body lines to make it look like a Chevrolet production piece straight off the assembly line.

According to foreign media reports, Tesla announced in a regulatory document released on January 2, local time that the price of all car models in the United States had been reduced by $2,000. Tesla said the price cut would help compensate for the phasing out of electric vehicle subsidies by the federal government.
Starting from January 1, Tesla Electric Vehicle Subsidies will be halved to $3,750 from the previous $7,500. After the price reduction, Tesla Model 3 started at $44,000 in the United States, Model S started at $76,000, and Model X started at $82,000, excluding tax subsidies provided by federal and state governments.
In the United States, consumers of electric vehicles can receive subsidies of $2,500 to $7,500 from the government depending on the type of car they buy and the power of their batteries. In the two quarters after the total sales of 200,000 electric vehicles, subsidies will begin to decrease, while Tesla's cumulative sales of electric vehicles will exceed 200,000 in 2018.
It is reported that Tesla consumers who pick up cars from January 1 to June 30 this year will receive a subsidy of $3,750, while those who pick up cars from July 1 to December 31 will only receive a subsidy of $1,875. After 2020, consumers who buy Tesla vehicles will not receive federal subsidies.
