Qmerit is an Irvine, California-based provider of installation services for EV charging and other electrification technologies. NAPA says it will be the first in the automotive aftermarket to offer Qmerit’s turnkey EV-charging installation services to buyers.

As the number of electric vehicles on the road steadily grows, this new collaboration will help NAPA deliver on its initiative to increase the availability of EV charging stations from coast to coast, the company says. Charger buyers now can access Qmerit’s installation services directly from

, where customers can easily research and purchase the charger that’s right for them.

“Alongside our existing commitments to increasing education and training for new technicians, NAPA is also committed to sourcing and ramping up resources that provide our network with the parts and accessories most crucial to maintaining an electric vehicle,” said Susan Starnes, vice president of emerging markets at Genuine Parts Co. “This effort with Qmerit expands the ways we’re bringing needed change for the aftermarket industry, while honoring the road we’ve traveled to get here. We’re excited to further serve this growing segment of drivers and maintain the level of service the existing NAPA customers have come to expect.”

This integration allows buyers to conveniently request an online estimate for their installation and connect with one of Qmerit’s certified installers. Qmerit’s certified network spanning the United States and Canada is comprised exclusively of licensed electricians who are insured, background-checked, trained and monitored for safety and service quality.

Honeywell has announced that its new
link hidden, please login to view is now available at all participating NAPA Auto Parts stores across the United States. Solstice yf UV is a low-global-warming-potential (GWP) refrigerant incorporating ultraviolet (UV) dye for leak-detection support in automotive air-conditioning systems.
This is the first time Solstice yf (R-1234yf) refrigerant with UV dye will be available in the aftermarket.
The automotive service industry has traditionally used UV dye as a valuable tool to identify and repair air conditioning system leaks. With UV dye incorporated in Solstice yf, the solution provides precise leak detection, shortened service times, accurate repair verification and eliminates call-backs, increasing customer satisfaction, according to Honeywell. Solstice yf UV uses the same UV dye that automakers use on assembly lines and will allow service technicians to save time and money when servicing vehicles that were built with R-1234yf.
“At NAPA Auto Parts, we are always looking for opportunities to carry new and innovative tools that help our customers repair vehicles faster and with ease. said Mike Pettyjohn, senior category manager for NAPA Auto Parts. “Honeywell’s Solstice yf UV is exactly that type of product, and it has the benefit of being better for the environment.”
By the end of 2022, R-1234yf refrigerant will be used in almost 200 million cars on the road globally and in more than 95% of all new vehicles sold in the United States. By 2025, it is estimated that more than 100 million cars using R-1234yf will be on the roads in the United States, significantly expanding R-1234yf servicing opportunities for automotive shops.
“As the first manufacturer to offer low-GWP R-1234yf with UV dye to the automotive industry, Honeywell is dedicated to supporting our end-user customers in their environmental transformations while helping them reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction scores,” said Ken West, president of Honeywell Advanced Materials. “With NAPA Auto Parts as our retail launch partner, we are expanding our reach to support customers across the United States, strengthening our commitment to supplying the automotive aftermarket with ready-now solutions that have lower greenhouse gas emissions without sacrificing product performance.”
link hidden, please login to view Honeywell’s Solstice yf UV is manufactured in the United States and is commercially available today at participating NAPA Auto Parts stores in 8-ounce cans as well as in 10- and 25-pound cylinders.
Honeywell has invested $1 billion in research, development and new capacity for its Solstice technology, having anticipated the need for lower-GWP solutions to combat climate change more than a decade ago. The product line, which helps customers lower their greenhouse-gas emissions and improve energy efficiency without sacrificing end-product performance, includes refrigerants for supermarkets, air conditioning for cars and trucks, blowing agents for insulation, propellants for personal and household care and solvents for cleaning solutions.
Customers utilizing Solstice technology have avoided the potential release of the equivalent of more than 260 million metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, equal to eliminating the potential emissions from more than 55 million cars for one year.

GPC closed the year on a high note. Fourth-quarter sales were up 13% year-over-year to $4.8 billion. I have been a mechanic for many years. I used to buy Napa Auto Parts almost always. I felt the parts were good quality, although more expensive than others. It does not pay to install poor quality parts on a car, they come back, and bite you!  Unfortunately, a few years ago it seems Napa changed their policy on quality. This happened around the time they totally changed the on-line site.  Around the same time, I started looking at Rock Auto on-line. Rock Auto offers each part by a few different manufacturers, quality levels, and prices. I started noticing that despite Napa still charging higher prices, they were now supplying the cheapest, lowest quality parts instead of the better quality they were known for.  Given that, why would a person order from Napa, when Rock Auto is surprisingly lower priced, and you have a quality level choice . Napa seems to be riding on their previous well known name, while keeping the prices artificially high.
Some prime examples of this is, I purchased a starter solenoid, (eckland, Napa's electrical brand), as a preventative measure. The third start-up, after installing, the solenoid froze in the on position, with key off, and kept the starter spinning and engaged until I could unhook one battery terminal. Burned up the relay, starter, and a couple wires.  I purchased a rebuilt alternator, took it from the box, and turned it, it felt rough turning, as if there was dirt in the bearing race or defective bearing components. I purchased Napa's best fuel pump, and it was very noisy from day one. I purchased a set of Napa Branded, 2 ton each, jack stands. One of them had a defective casting that would not allow the stop to lock in place. Although it seemed it locked, when weight was applied, it fell.  I purchased rebuilt Ford Front calipers from Napa, and with in one year, the unplated soft steel bleeder screws has rusted solid to the caliper!
Are other people seeing this too??
