A recent study from Hanover Research and Babcox Media suggests that over 20% of repairs required an OE diagnostic tool to properly complete the repair job. However, many OE tools require a large upfront investment, costly upkeep, and specialized knowledge, creating barriers for many shop owners. Repairify and NAPA said asTech® Mechanical solves this issue by enabling shops to remotely connect to an OE tool, operated by a certified technician, to perform programming, calibrations, and vehicle health checks on a pay-per-use basis. “As a leader in the aftermarket repair industry, we’re dedicated to improving technician and shop efficiency,” said John Molidor, product category director – tools and equipment; paint, body, and equipment at NAPA. “Our partnership with

link hidden, please login to view announced the launch of a new passenger car motor oil – Red Diamond Ultimate. The company said the oil is formulated to fully meet the General Motors dexos1 Gen 3 specification among others but is also formulated to keep the oil cleaner for longer periods of time while improving performance, engine system protection, mileage and horsepower. In a news release announcing the new product, the company said Red Diamond Ultimate passenger car motor oil uses 100% Group III base oils and is infused with Hot Shot’s Secret’s proprietary FR3 Nano Technology. It is suited for both hybrid and internal combustion engines, especially small displacement, turbocharged GDI engines where it can protect against low-speed pre-ignition. The company added that Red Diamond protects against timing chain and valve wearing that often occurs and fights the formation of high temperature deposits that drain horsepower and fuel economy.
“We’re thrilled to offer passenger car motor oil and exclusively to our dealer network,” said
link hidden, please login to viewBrand Manager, Josh Steinmetz. “With three viscosities, we expect a lot of demand for this product given the compatibility for any vehicle where Dexos1 Gen 3 is specified. Also, it also exceeds API SM, SN and SN Plus and many of the Ford and Chrysler motor oil specs. Adding this oil to our lineup allows service centers to offer an outstanding oil to protect their customer’s vehicles.” Red Diamond Ultimate Motor Oil is available in three viscosity weights — 0W-20, 5W-20 and 5W-30 now and in three sizes — 5-gallon, 55-gallon and 330-gallon.

South Korea’s
link hidden, please login to view Group said on July 1 that it is seeking to seize an early lead in the booming automotive market in Southeast Asia, thanks to its established presence in several countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The group said that its first automotive manufacturing plant in the ASEAN region, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI), produced 22,520 vehicles in the first quarter of this year, achieving an operating rate of 110.9%. Hyundai said that this figure was the highest among all its overseas factories during the same period.
Last year’s operating rate at HMMI was just 50.3%, showing that both demand and supply for Hyundai in the local market have grown rapidly in the past year.

Hyundai Motor has committed to investing approximately $1.55 billion in HMMI by 2030. HMMI currently oversees the production of vehicles including the super-mini SUV Creta, compact multi-purpose vehicle Stargazer, mid-size SUV Santa Fe, and the award-winning electric vehicle IONIQ 5. Through May 31st of this year, HMMI has sold a total of 1,927,92 vehicles.
Hyundai also highlighted its electric vehicle battery production in Southeast Asia. The company established a joint cell factory with South Korean battery manufacturer LG Energy Solution in Karawang New Industry City, Indonesia, in June last year.
The joint venture, named HLI Green Power, began mass production of cells in April this year. Hyundai stated that the Kona Electric will be the first vehicle to feature cells produced in Southeast Asia. The company noted that this will make Hyundai the first automaker in Indonesia to have a complete production and sales chain for electric vehicles.
Hyundai sold 7,475 electric vehicles in Indonesia last year, accounting for 43.8% of the market and becoming the country’s largest electric vehicle seller. Hyundai stated that although it is leading in the electric vehicle market, Chinese electric vehicle brands are actively expanding their business in Indonesia and reiterated its plan to pay more attention to the ASEAN region.

Brad Sweet and the
link hidden, please login to view No. 49 team were poised to take on a busy week of High Limit Racing action, but Tuesday night’s event at Davenport Speedway in Iowa was rained out. That left two nights at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Mo., on the schedule, and an opportunity for Sweet and the NAPA team to showcase their skills to fans and competitors alike. At the Rayce Rudeen Foundation event opener Friday night at I-70, Sweet posted the sixth-quickest time overall in qualifying with a lap of 13.768 seconds on the half-mile dirt oval. The Big Cat then dominated his heat race, taking the checkered flag and securing his spot in the FK Rod Ends Dash. With the help of his daughter Savannah, Sweet drew the third starting spot for the seven-lap dash to set the field for the evening’s feature. The NAPA driver held his ground to finish third, then lined up third for the feature. Sweet was able to pick up a spot in Friday’s main event. He crossed the line in the runner-up position.
On Saturday night, Sweet was already locked into heat race competition thanks to his podium finish on Friday. The NAPA No. 49 was second across the line after starting fourth in the heat race. Sweet kept the energy level high in Saturday’s dash and finished third. The NAPA team went on to battle hard against tough competition in the main event. After a late-race caution, Sweet spun the tires on the restart and fell back to fifth. He maintained that position when the checkered flag flew.
Despite the rain-out at Davenport, Sweet and the NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 team extended their points lead with the runner-up and top-five finishes. Sweet now leads the standings with a solid, 65-point advantage over second place. Eagle Raceway, a favorite from the 2023 season, is next on the schedule with a $55,000-to-win event.
Start / Finish:
Friday, June 7: 3 / 2
Saturday, June 8: 3 / 5
Points Standing / Total: 1st / 1,540 pts. (+65)
Next Race: Tuesday, June 11, Eagle Raceway, Eagle, Nebraska
