Mitchell 1 Accepting Applications For Automotive Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the annual Mitchell 1 Automotive Technology Scholarship.

High school seniors and college students in the U.S. and Canada who are interested in pursuing a career in the automotive aftermarket can submit applications through March 31 by visiting the Automotive Aftermarket Scholarship Central website at

“We’re pleased to offer the Mitchell 1 Automotive Technology Scholarship to a deserving student to help pave their way to a fulfilling career servicing or supplying parts for vehicle maintenance and repair,” said Nick DiVerde, senior marketing director, Mitchell 1. “The scholarship will help students pay for their tuition so they can achieve the skills they need to succeed in this rewarding field.”

The winning student will receive a $2,500 scholarship, a check for $500 and roundtrip airfare and accommodations for the winner and a guest to attend the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) conference, to be held Aug. 7-11 at the Cincinnati Marriott RiverCenter in Covington, Kentucky.

To be eligible, scholarship applicants must be a current student majoring in automotive technology/auto shop repair course work and meet the following criteria:

  • Nomination from his/her NACAT instructor
  • Minimum overall 3.0 grade-point average
  • Planning to attend an accredited college or university, or already enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • A U.S. or Canadian citizen

A panel of judges reviewed and ranked the applicants based on their merits following guidelines and administration from the University of the Aftermarket Foundation. Candidates also were required to show they were employees or children of employees at an Auto Value, Bumper to Bumper or Confidence Plus location. 

      Since the Alliance scholarship program was developed in 2001, it has awarded almost $575,000 in scholarships to deserving students. The annual program encourages continuing education within the membership and supports the next workforce generation in achieving their educational goals.       The AAM Group announced the recipients of the 2023 AAM Scholarship. 
      This educational aid program was established to support full-time employees (and their families) of AAM member warehouses in the pursuit of their educational goals at a two-year community college or technical school or a four-year college at the undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate level. 
      Each $1,000 scholarship is awarded for one year to a high school graduate in good scholastic standing. 
      A committee of independent, third-party evaluators selected the following recipients, who each demonstrated the diligence, rigor and academic achievement the award stands for.
      Alyssa Gonnerman (Midwest Wheel Companies) – Graduated high school with a 3.924 GPA and plans to pursue a degree in biomedical sciences. Sadie Hudson (AllPro Distributing) – Graduated with a 3.7 GPA and intends to pursue a career in elementary education. Sophie Lamont (North Central Distributing) – Graduated high school with a 3.85 GPA and intends to study business in college. Paige Rice (Tri-State Enterprises) – Graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and plans to pursue a bachelor of science in nursing. Application Details
      Each year’s AAM Scholarship application period opens April 15 and closes May 31. Applicants must be at least 16 years old on the day the application for the current year is due and have graduated high school or its equivalent with a minimum 3.0 GPA before July 1 of the year in which they will use the scholarship. 
      Applicants must be a full-time employee of an AAM member or a child, grandchild, sister or brother of such an employee. Up to five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded each year. For complete program details, visit
