Recommended Posts

Arnott, a Merritt Island, Florida-based manufacturer of air-suspension products for passenger vehicles, announced that it has acquired JRi Shocks.

“The acquisition enables Arnott to expand its industry-leading air-suspension product portfolio within the SEMA performance market to reach additional customers including street cars, Jeep vehicles, trucks, motorcycles and UTVs,”

said in a news release. “JRi Shocks will continue to serve its existing markets and customers, but now will be better-positioned to grow those markets even further while also expanding into new ones.”

Customers should see no change in the day-to-day operations of the business, Arnott added.

“Arnott has exceptional engineering capabilities and has a reputation for producing high-performance products,” said Joe Santangelo, CEO of Arnott. “AccuAir, added to the Arnott portfolio last year, provides the leading air-suspension management system on the market today. Bringing JRi Shocks into the fold enables Arnott to offer the best aftermarket replacement air suspension, the leading air-suspension management system as well as some of the best performance shocks in the world.”

JRi Shocks is well-known for its shock-absorber technology, which has a history of championship performance in various forms of motorsports. Founded in 2007 by Jeff Ryan, the company was co-owned by Ryan, Det Cullum and NASCAR Hall of Fame crew chief and team owner Ray Evernham at the time of the acquisition. Ryan will stay on to continue managing all engineering activities for the company, while Cullum and Evernham will remain involved with the company in advisory roles.

“The last few years we have focused on expanding our world class racing products, allowing more enthusiasts to experience JRi Shocks,” said Ryan, founder of JRi Shocks. “It was a natural progression of our expertise and now we will be able to take it even further under the Arnott umbrella.”

“After three years of owning JRi, we arrived at a point where our growth potential was being held back by the resources we had at hand. We needed a partner to take the company to the next level,” said Evernham. “Arnott’s enthusiasm for what JRi stands for and its track record of leading companies to extraordinary growth made Arnott the perfect fit to become that partner. I look forward to continuing to support the company’s growth.”

Arnold Motor Supply and Barron Motor Supply announced that the companies have merged.
Established in 1930 by William J. Barron Sr., Barron Motor Supply is a multi-generational company with a network of 12 Eastern Iowa locations. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based company is currently under the management of third-generation leader John Barron.
“Our 94-year family history in the automotive aftermarket is a testament to the great employees and customers we’ve had the privilege of working with,” said John Barron, president of Barron Motor Supply. “We could not have picked a more similar company and better people to pass the legacy to, to respect our history, employees and customers. We wish them only the best and know they will serve our customers with the same respect and connection we’ve known through all these years.”
Arnold Motor Supply, founded in 1927 by E.P. Arnold, grew from one location in Spencer, Iowa, to nearly 70 across five states in the Midwest.
“Companies that last a century are rare, so the opportunity for two of them to join forces is a special opportunity,” said Eric Johnson, president of Arnold Motor Supply. “From the first conversation we had with John Barron we were both impressed at the similarities between two Iowa companies founded within three years of each other nearly a century ago who go about doing business the right way, by prioritizing the customer. By combining our strengths and resources we will be able to provide excellent opportunities for team members and expanded services for the Eastern Iowa market.”
Arnold Motor Supply is one of the nation’s premier suppliers of replacement parts, accessories and supplies for virtually all makes of automobiles, light- and heavy-duty trucks, marine, off-road and agricultural equipment. Arnold Motor Supply also distributes high-quality tools, shop equipment, paint and body supplies and collision parts.

Effective June 12, select Auto Plus locations became Factory Motor Parts (FMP) stores, FMP announced on its website.
The sale comes after Auto Plus won bankruptcy-court approval to sell most of its locations to FMP after the company disqualified a different bid under suspicion of impropriety,
link hidden, please login to view Earlier this year, Icahn Enterprises announced that Auto Plus was filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In a news release, Icahn Enterprises (IEP) blamed ”lessened demand, supply chain disruptions, an inflationary environment and the effects of COVID-19” on the parts distributor’s struggles.”
“Since acquiring Auto Plus, IEP has invested significantly in transformation and restructuring initiatives and has loaned significant amounts to Auto Plus but has obviously been disappointed in the results of these investments and the continued losses that Auto Plus has experienced,” the company said in January. “As a result, IEP has determined that it would no longer be prudent to continue to loan money to Auto Plus at this juncture unless done in connection with a restructuring process.”
FMP’s new locations will have inventories for all makes and all models combined with aftermarket brands as a result of the transaction, according to Factory Motor Parts.
Founded in 1945 as Elliott Auto Supply Co., FMP has grown from a small, single location in Minneapolis to more than 300 locations in 19 states. The name was acquired from its participation in the former Chrysler Mopar Distribution network of the 1960s.
