The Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, with support from the University of the Aftermarket Foundation, announced the establishment of the Pat Biermann Memorial Heavy Duty Scholarship. This new heavy-duty scholarship honors the life and contributions of Pat Biermann. The Alliance described Biermann was a visionary leader in the heavy-duty aftermarket, a trusted advisor to the Alliance and a beloved colleague. Biermann passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the age of 75.
Honoring a Heavy Duty Scholarship Leader and Mentor
The Alliance said Biermann devoted more than 40 years to the heavy-duty aftermarket, leaving an indelible legacy through his leadership, innovation and dedication. As a co-founder and long-serving president of HD America (HDA), he helped propel the organization to a position of industry leadership. After retiring, he continued to contribute his expertise as a heavy-duty advisor and consultant for the Alliance. The Alliance added that Biermann exemplified the true spirit of “Heavy Duty”—facing challenges head-on, fostering growth and mentoring the next generation.
Pat Biermann’s Career Spanned Decades of Impact
A graduate of Washington University, Biermann rooted his career in engineering. His work spanned leadership and strategic development and significantly impacted the commercial vehicle and heavy-duty industry. Biermann’s efforts strengthened the industry’s foundation and prepared it for future growth.
Scholarship Supports Future Heavy-Duty Professionals
In tribute to Biermann’s memory and his direct contributions to the Alliance, the scholarship offers a one-time award of $2,500. It supports a student actively pursuing a career within the vital heavy-duty industry. Eligible career paths include Diesel Technician, Truck Driver (CDL training), Fleet Manager, Heavy Duty Parts Specialist, or a similar heavy duty-related field.
Legacy Invests in Skilled Hands-On Careers
“Pat Biermann was not only an industry giant but also a trusted advisor and friend to the Alliance’s Commercial Vehicle and Heavy Duty program. His insights were invaluable, and his passion for this industry was infectious,” said Mario Gonzalez, CVHD program manager for the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance.
“Pat truly understood that the backbone of the heavy-duty world lies in the skilled technicians, drivers, parts specialists, and fleet managers who keep things moving.
By establishing this memorial scholarship—with the generous support of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation—we honor Pat’s legacy in a practical way: by investing directly in the dedicated individuals pursuing these essential, hands-on careers. It’s a tribute he would have deeply appreciated.”
The Alliance said it encourages students who are committed to building careers in these essential roles to apply for the scholarship.

This appointment follows JC’s promotion to President in early 2024. JC will now serve in his capacity as both President and CEO. “We continue to be impressed with JC’s leadership, passion and drive, and we expect the same as President and CEO of the Alliance,” said Eli N. Futerman, Chairman of the Alliance Board of Directors and co-owner of Hahn Automotive Warehouse, Inc. “JC brings a strong vision and direction to our shareholder membership.”
Todd Leimenstoll, Alliance Board Director and Secretary, as well as President & CEO of the Auto-Wares Group of Companies, also expressed confidence in JC’s leadership: “As a group, we continue to look toward the future and strongly believe in our industry partnerships. JC has proven to be a strong leader, facilitating industry collaboration, and is a forward thinker on how we can all work together to support the entire distribution channel.”
In his new role as President & CEO, Washbish will continue to collaborate closely with all of the Alliance’s shareholders and channel partners to drive business development and strengthen industry relations. All Alliance executive leadership teams—including those in information technology, sales and marketing, category management, and finance—will continue to report to JC as he leads the Alliance toward achieving its strategic goals.

We have a talented, motivated team driven by our motto: ‘Service is the difference, we get it!’” JC Washbish joined the Alliance in 2016 as Sales, Marketing, and Brand Manager, with responsibilities that included advertising, promotions, and sales support. In 2017, he was promoted to Director of Marketing, and in 2019, to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. During this time, he played a key role in expanding the company’s marketing and sales initiatives. In 2024, JC was promoted to President, a role in which he helped shape the company’s strategic direction and growth. His leadership experience spans areas such as business development, strategic planning, and team coordination across sales, marketing, category management, and operations.
JC holds a Juris Doctor from Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. He has earned his AAP designation from the University of the Aftermarket and is a graduate of Leadership 2.0, reflecting his commitment to professional development and industry leadership. JC is also the 2024 recipient of the Northwood University Automotive Aftermarket Education Award.
“JC continues to provide strong leadership to the Alliance and its shareholders,” said Corey Bartlett, Treasurer of the Alliance Board of Directors and CEO of APH, Inc. “The Board is excited about the Alliance’s future, and we are in great hands with JC as President and CEO.”
JC becomes the third CEO in the history of the Alliance, following his father, John R. Washbish, who served from 2010 to 2024, and Richard “Dick” Morgan, who led the Alliance for over 14 years from 1994 to 2009. John R. Washbish will continue to serve the Alliance and its shareholders in an advisory capacity.

Prior to joining APW, Goldman served as executive vice president and CFO of Newmark Moses Truck Partners. His diverse experience and strategic vision were key in his promotion to general manager of APW in December, 2021, where he successfully oversaw the direction, logistics, operations, staff and channel partner relationships, navigating challenges such as COVID-19, supply chain disruptions and labor shortages.
