MAHLE Motorsport announced four new performance cast PowerPak piston sets for the 6-liter and 6.4-liter Ford Powerstroke.
Developed in direct response to consumer demand for diesel motorsports competition, the new 6-liter pistons are based on the 2004+ design, and the 6.4-liter pistons are based on the MaxxForce design that provides maximum strength and superior durability, according to the company.
“All four sets offer incredible versatility, allowing a daily driver to become a weekend warrior for drag, dyno or pulling competitions,” the company added.
The castings retain the OEM steel top ring insert for the longevity of the top ring groove and are engineered with fully radiused valve pockets to reduce stress and fatigue cracking. Also, a lower compression ratio (.5 to 1.5 points) allows more flexibility for high-output tuning.
They’re designed with performance bowls that reduce erosion issues caused by high pressure, long duration and advanced injection timing, and available with 0.100-inch-deep intake and exhaust valve pockets that work with many performance aftermarket camshafts.
The 6-liter PowerPak set is cast from MAHLE’s proprietary M124 alloy and the 6.4-liter Powerstroke set is cast from M142 alloy. Both are designed for a 4.134 stroke and 6.929 rod. The CR is calculated with 0.0008-inch piston protrusion above deck and 0.059-inch head-gasket thickness.
As with all PowerPak piston sets, the pistons are treated with MAHLE’s proprietary GRAFAL skirt coating for reduced drag and increased scuff resistance. Heavy-duty DLC-coated tool steel wrist pins, clips and a high-performance ring set rounds out the PowerPak.
“Diesel motorsports is all the rage from NHRDA, ODSS to Ultimate Callout Challenge,” MAHLE Motorsport Program Manager, Joe Maylish said. “We’re excited to announce that MAHLE Motorsport is coming in strong for 2023 with new diesel piston sets in time for this year’s race season. So, if you are a seasoned competitor needing an edge or just thinking about competing this year, our new Powerstroke kits are designed to give you the edge on the weekends and improve performance throughout the week.”

Ford modular engine builders now can indulge in their quest for more power with the introduction of MAHLE Motorsport’s new Ford 5-liter Modular Coyote PowerPak piston set for 2018+ engines.
This piston set is designed to lower the compression ratio to 10.4 to 1 to allow for power adders for those who want to build a high-horsepower Coyote build.
The pistons are dual-coated with phosphate and MAHLE’s proprietary GRAFAL coating for reduced drag and wear. This set features hard anodized top ring grooves for maximum durability for extreme-duty applications, and comes complete with a 1.0 mm, 1.0 mm, 2.0 mm file fit performance ring set, and 0.177 wall pins each weighing 118 grams.
The piston compression height is 1.167, and the weight is 383 grams. The slipper skirt forged piston set utilizes a low silicon 2618 alloy for high load, high stress applications.

Now there’s a way to ensure more reliable power from EcoBoost-powered 2.3-liter engines with the introduction of MAHLE Motorsport’s 4032 alloy Ford EcoBoost 2.3L PowerPak Plus Piston kit.
Designed for heavy-duty applications in which the OE cast piston has been known to fail, MAHLE Motorsport has introduced a 4032 alloy option that not only adds much-needed strength, but also allows for a tighter piston to wall clearance for quieter cold startup, according to the company.
MAHLE Motorsport’s 2.3L PowerPak kit is loaded with value-added features for reliable power production for any 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, according to MAHLE.
To help correct problems associated with the OE cast piston, MAHLE Motorsport manufactured this kit with a thick slipper-skirt-style forging and an enhanced OE crown design with increased radius for improved strength. Other special features include a heavy-duty 0.200-inch wall thickness; H13 tool steel wrist pins; and a hard anodized top ring groove that is ideal for extreme-duty applications.
The pistons are engineered with thick 0.235-inch top and 0.200-inch second ring lands. The pistons are designed for OE 149.3-millimeter-length connecting rods and OE 22.5-millimeter wrist pins and an OE 32.8-millimeter compression height. Valve pockets and depth accommodates both the 2-liter and 2.3-liter OE EcoBoost heads with a 9.5:1 compression ratio.
The new PowerPak Plus kit is available in 87.51-millimeter (No. 197937145) and 88-millimeter (No. 197937165) bore sizes and includes a nitrided steel 1.2-millimeter top, 1.2-millimeter second, 2.8-millimeter oil-ring set. The pistons are coated with MAHLE’s unique GRAFAL anti-friction skirt coating and phosphate to prevent microwelding and pin galling.

At the CES exhibition in 2019, Intel's subsidiary Mobileye announced that it was seeking to expand strategic cooperation with the Chinese automaker Great Wall Automobile (GMW). Mobileye is a leading supplier of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automatic Driving (AD).
As part of the partnership, Great Wall will seek to integrate Mobileye's ADAS system into its various models (L0-L2) in the next three to five years. While integrating the ADAS system, the two companies will also cooperate to develop a higher level automatic driving system (L3 and higher level) according to the unique characteristics of the Chinese road.
The potential partnership with Great Wall Automobile will expand Mobileye's growing business in China, and the company's ADAS technology has maintained a good momentum in the Chinese market. With the increasing demand of automobile manufacturers for ADAS solutions and becoming a global standard requirement, Mobileye uses the large amount of data it collects from the deployed ADAS systems to enhance and achieve a higher level of automatic driving.
Mobileye L0-L2 ADAS: Mobileye is the global leader in the research and development of computer vision technology for ADAS systems. Mobileye's technology, supported by its SoC product EyeQ <, can provide power for L0, L1 and L2 passive safety functions such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and lane maintenance, and millions of vehicles from 25 automobile manufacturers around the world have adopted Mobileye's technology.
L2 + Level: Mobileye's L2 + Level ADAS improves L1-L2 driver's auxiliary safety function and provides more convenience for drivers on today's roads. L2 + ADAS enhances the semi-automatic driving function of vehicles by using Mobile Road Experience Management (REM) map solution, and realizes self-adaptive endurance, lane maintenance assistance and other advanced functions in more complex driving scenarios such as urban environment using Roadbook () data. Although drivers of L2 + technology vehicles must be alert to confirm their actions and take over when needed, the improved functions provide great convenience and safety, while reducing the gap with higher-level automatic driving.
Level 3 and Full Auto Driving: In addition to integrating ADAS and L2+, Mobileye also supports automobile manufacturers in developing higher-level auto driving, including L3 for passenger cars and L4 and L5 for fully automated vehicle fleets. The cooperation between Mobileye and Great Wall Automobile has increased Mobileye's partners in L3 systems, including BMW, Fiat-Chrysler, Ulai, Nissan and SAIC.
