Northwood University and Auto-Wares Group of Companies are announcing a new partnership to provide valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth to Auto-Wares employees, their spouses and dependents.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Auto-Wares to empower their employees and families to pursue higher education at Northwood University,” said Matthew Bennett, vice president of graduate enrollment and professional studies. “Northwood has a rich history of providing transformative educational experiences, and we look forward to offering our renowned programs to Auto-Wares’ dedicated workforce. The scholarship program will provide financial assistance for pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees, creating a pathway for individuals to unlock their full potential and achieve their educational goals.

The scholarship program will cover a range of undergraduate and graduate programs offered by Northwood University, including business administration; automotive marketing and management; automotive aftermarket management; operations; supply chain management and more. Eligible Auto-Wares employees, their spouses and dependents will

have the opportunity to pursue their desired degrees while benefitting from Northwood University’s distinguished faculty, extensive industry connections, and experiential learning opportunities.

      WAI, UAF Announce Bill Ernst Memorial Scholarship

      WAI Global, in conjunction with the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF), recently announced the WAI Global/Bill Ernst Memorial Scholarship.
      The WAI Global/Bill Ernst Memorial Scholarship will present one $2,500 annual scholarship designated for a student pursuing a career in the automotive aftermarket.
      The scholarship is available to students in two-year technical college programs and vocational schools and four-year college programs and subject to the same requirements as other UAF scholarships: applicants must be enrolled full-time in a college-level program or an ASE/NATEF (National Automotive Technician Education Foundation)-certified automotive technical program.
      Graduate programs and part-time undergraduate programs do not qualify.
      “Bill Ernst was employed by WAI for 20 years as a warehouse manager, account manager and senior account manager,” WAI said in a news release. “He represented all that was good in a dedicated employee. He was tenacious in obtaining new and retaining current business, driven by what was in the best interest of the company and the customer. He was universally well-liked, and a true pillar of the remanufacturing industry. Applicants should consider these attributes when applying.”

      Monro, The Group Announce National Supply Agreement

      The Automotive Parts Services Group (The Group), a joint venture of The Pronto Network and Federated-Alliance, recently announced a national supply agreement with Monro Inc. on behalf of member distributors.
      “The ability to provide national coverage through our collaboration with a single central billing process is key with national customers like Monro,” said Larry Pavey, CEO of the Automotive Parts Services Group. “By working together, our members are able to deliver the same benefits as retail competitors, as well as local expertise and dedication to the needs of professional service providers. This agreement provides members of The Group with the opportunity to offer premium parts and service to Monro and their more than 1,300 locations through an efficient, coast-to-coast system integration.”
      The national supply program will begin in several pilot areas and will expand throughout the country in future weeks.
      “We are excited about the agreement and working with The Group members who focus on serving professional service providers,” said Austin Phillips, vice president of marketing, merchandising and commercial for Monro. “We are impressed with The Group’s ability to develop integrated processes that allow their different members to act as one company which was essential to us.       Philips Work Light Earns Best New Tool for Repairs Award

      Lumileds received the Best New Tool for Repairs Award for its Philips Xperion 6000 UV Pillar work light from the Import Vehicle Community at AAPEX in Las Vegas.
      “We designed the Philips Xperion 6000 UV Pillar as a multi-purpose work light that helps technicians save time, money and space in their tool chest,” noted Aubry Baugh, Lumileds senior manager, aftermarket marketing leader, NA. “This innovative light features three light sources: a main light rated CRI95 for color matching; a 180-lumen spotlight; and a very handy UV inspection light for critical repair jobs. The Xperion 6000 UV Pillar is three lights in one and allows techs to carry a single tool.”
      Featuring an articulating LED panel for precise beam placement, a swiveling hook and powerful magnetic base, the Xperion 6000 UV Pillar can be placed in nearly any location or position to deliver light exactly where it is needed. The light features a rechargeable lithium battery for exceptional battery life, according to the company, and it’s compatible with the Philips multi-dock recharging station.
      If the light is ever misplaced, technicians can find it anywhere in the shop by making it beep and flash with the optional Philips “Find My Device” key fob.
      Designed to withstand the demands of automotive repair work, the Xperion 6000 UV Pillar is rated IP65 against intrusion by fluids and IK07 against impacts. The ABS rubber surfaces retain excellent grip, even in the presence of grease and oil, according to the company.

      SMP Releases 276 New Part Numbers in October

      Standard Motor Products (SMP) has released 276 new part numbers in its October new-number announcement.
      This most recent release provides new coverage in 113 distinct product categories and 118 part numbers for 2022, 2023 and 2024 model-year vehicles.
      Standard and Four Seasons continue to expand their programs for hybrid and electric vehicles.
      Standard’s latest additions include park-assist sensors for the 2022-2017 Toyota Prius Prime and canister purge solenoids for the 2022-18 Lexus ES300h.
      Four Seasons released hose assemblies for hybrid vehicles such as the 2022-2018 Honda Accord and electric vehicles including the 2021-2017 Chevrolet Bolt. Brushless blower motors have been introduced for the 2022-2016 Mercedes C-Class Hybrid, and evaporators are now available for the 2022-2020 Ford Interceptor Utility and Lincoln Aviator Hybrid.  
      Internal combustion engines are evolving to improve fuel economy while reducing emissions, and Standard is continually expanding popular categories for these vehicles. The Standard variable valve timing (VVT) program has grown with the introduction of new solenoids, sprockets and oil-control valves, while turbochargers and related components have been released for General Motors, Nissan, Ford and Chrysler vehicles.
      Emission-control products including fuel-vapor canisters, EGR tubes, EGR valves, engine crankcase breather hoses and PCV valves also were added.
      Powertrain-neutral categories such as active grille shutters and park-assist sensors represent repair opportunities that didn’t exist a few years ago. Active grille shutter assemblies have been introduced for new Ford and Chrysler applications, and active grille shutter actuators are new for Ford vehicles through model-year 2022. Fourteen park-assist sensors have been added covering popular vehicles such as the 2021-2020 Cadillac CT5 and 2021-2014 Infiniti Q50. Standard also has introduced 18 new ABS speed sensors covering 5 million vehicles.
      “Our October new number announcement provides expansion in over 100 product categories, offering new coverage for countless vehicles in operation,” said Jack Ramsey, senior vice president of sales and marketing, SMP. “We are pleased to offer this level of coverage to our trusted partners.”
      Four Seasons has introduced 107 new part numbers, including 63 new hose assemblies with domestic and import coverage for more than 7 million vehicles in operation, including the 2022-2020 Subaru Legacy and Outback and the 2023-2020 Ford Transit. New blower motors have been introduced for popular vehicles such as the 2022-2018 Honda Pilot and the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Additional newly released components include desiccant bags for 2023-2017 RAM ProMasters and reman compressors for 1.1 million Ford and Lincoln SUVs.

      Litens Adds 28 New SKUs Covering 7.6 Million VIO

      Litens Aftermarket introduced its latest product lineup, featuring 28 new SKUs.
      The SKUs consist of 15 pulleys covering 4.4 million vehicles in operation (VIO), and 13 belt tensioners covering 3.1 million VIO.
      The expansion offers enhanced coverage for more than 7.6 million additional VIO, including coverage for more than 1 million VIO for 2016-2021 Honda models and innovative solutions for popular Ford F-150 applications.
      The newly introduced belt tensioners include coverage for the 2016-2021 Honda models, such as the Piolet, Odyssey, Ridgeline and Passport.
      “Litens is responding to the demands of millions of customers, enabling technicians to access the right tensioners for proper belt-drive system maintenance,” the company said in a news release. “These portfolio additions are timely as these vehicles approach the point of needing a system reset, ensuring optimal belt-drive system performance. A system reset involves replacing all components of the belt-drive system, including the tensioner, idler pulley(s) and the belt, simultaneously, to maintain proper belt-drive system performance throughout the vehicle’s lifespan.”

The new tensioners have undergone design enhancements to the OE products, including a lift feature and Litens Technician Assist Pin (TAP).
