KBS MAXX single-stage paint provides a beautiful, durable, UV-stable finish with excellent gloss retention, according to KBS Coatings.

The two-component polyurethane top coat performs like an all-in-one base coat and clear coat, according to the company.

“KBS MAXX has superior impact, weather and UV resistance, while providing fast-drying characteristics,” KBS Coatings explained in a news release. “The long-lasting, high-solids coating offers outstanding adhesion and superb opacity. KBS Advanced Cross-Linked Coatings Technology makes it both flexible and durable.”

Chemical-resistant KBS MAXX has low VOC and HAPs and withstands continuous temperatures of up to 400 F.

The paint can be applied by brush, roller or sprayer and features excellent flow-out for a smooth finish with no brush marks. KBS MAXX and the KBS MAXX Activator Medium are easy to mix and yield a pre-thinned paint that is ready to spray or brush.

KBS MAXX currently is offered in 19 colors, and in clear. For more information, visit

AMSOIL has added a new 0W-40 viscosity to its line of OE 100% synthetic motor oil to better meet the emerging demands of advanced automotive technology.
The new OE 0W-40 is primarily for newer RAM HD trucks equipped with the 6.4-liter Hemi engine, AMSOIL noted.

AMSOIL OE 100% synthetic motor oil is specifically designed to deliver maximum wear protection, fuel economy and emissions control for the longer drain intervals recommended by OE manufacturers, according to the company.
The motor oil is licensed by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to meet and exceed the requirements commonly found in owner’s manuals. AMSOIL OE 100% synthetic motor oil also is friendly toward modern emissions-control systems to promote proper operation of catalytic converters for optimum service life and low exhaust emissions, according to

OE 100% synthetic motor oil achieved 100% protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI), based on testing required by the GM dexos 1 Gen 2 specification.
The motor oil provides 47% more wear protection than required by the GM dexos 1 Gen 2 specification, based on independent testing cited by AMSOIL.
“AMSOIL OE 100% synthetic motor oil has a 100% synthetic, pure chemical structure engineered to remove harmful contaminants and provide long-lasting engine protection and performance,” AMSOIL said in a news release. “It features an advanced detergent and dispersant additive package designed to protect against sludge and deposits to deliver maximum engine cleanliness.”

Lumileds has introduced the Philips GoPure GP5611 automotive air purifier, designed to clean air quickly and efficiently to reduce the transmission of airborne viruses, bacteria and allergens.
Designed to fit in most vehicle cup holders, the USB-powered GP5611 filters the cabin air with three technologies: a Philips SaniFilter Plus filter, a HESAMax filtration cartridge and a powerful UVC light, according to Lumileds.
The Philips SaniFilter Plus filter captures bacteria and respiratory viruses as well as airborne allergens including pollen, dust mites, mold spores and pet dander. It features an anti-microbial layer to inhibit the growth of microorganisms inside the device, including mold spores.
The SaniFilter Plus filter has been tested at IUTA laboratory in Germany and proven to capture 99% of ultra-fine particles, including particles as small as 0.004 microns that can get deep into the lungs and create serious health risks, according to Lumileds.
The Philips HESAMax cartridge (high-efficiency sorbent agent) removes chemicals, harmful gases and unpleasant odors from the car, including formaldehyde, toluene and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The cartridge contains two types of HESA material: white beads that draw formaldehyde from the air, break it down and safely lock it within the cartridge; and black carbon beads that absorb unpleasant smells.
For an added layer of protection, bacteria and viruses trapped in the GP5611 filters are killed by exposing them to ultraviolet light, according to Lumileds. UVC light has been used for sterilization in hospitals, hotels and public transportation for decades.
Lumileds noted that the GoPure GP5611 UVC LED technology emits zero ozone.
“The GoPure GP5611 is powerful enough to filter all the air in an average passenger vehicle in about 10 minutes, and since it fits in most vehicle cup holders, you can be up and running in less than a minute,” said Aubry Baugh, Lumileds senior manager, aftermarket marketing leader, NA.
In typical use, the SaniFilter Plus and HESAMax filters only need to be replaced about once a year. The UVC LED module will last for the lifetime of the device, according to the company.

Epicor introduced two solutions that enable parts distributors and vehicle service/repair businesses to predict likely future demand based on sophisticated new data models.
The new solutions, Epicor Predictive Inventory Assistant (PIA) and Predictive Maintenance Assistant (PMA), were on display at the company’s booth at AAPEX 2023 in Las Vegas.
Epicor PIA and PMA leverage the power of the Epicor aftermarket product content engine and connected data network, which together provide visibility into more than 1 billion individual part transactions and more than 140 million vehicle repair events per year, according to the company.
Epicor data scientists combined this channel visibility with predictive modelling and leading-edge deployment technologies to deliver real-time parts inventory and service/repair intelligence to two of the industry’s most important decision points.
“These exciting new solutions harness the power of data to help customers not only have the right parts at the right place at the right time, but also to anticipate and address future sales and service opportunities,” said Tim Hardin, Epicor senior vice president of global automotive, data, and extend services. “The resulting ‘Insight Advantage’ empowers Epicor customers to think big and grow faster by being significantly more efficient and providing a great customer experience.”
      Epicor Predictive Inventory Assistant
Epicor PIA is the industry’s first intelligent inventory-management solution, according to Epicor, providing stocking recommendations based on aggregated financial information from “stores like you.”
PIA uses machine-learning technologies to intelligently cluster similar stores based on a variety of dimensions, such as growth score, size, local car parc and geographical location/urbanization level. PIA ranks part numbers and makes “add” recommendations of specific parts not currently in the user’s inventory, but which are driving revenue growth at other, similar stores.
“Predictive Inventory Assistant adds an entirely new layer of intelligence to existing inventory modeling solutions by factoring in store and market characteristics that, until now, required detailed study and input from distributor and store personnel,” Hardin said. “PIA enables these businesses to continually and easily optimize their inventories to match emerging demand.”
      Epicor Predictive Maintenance Assistant
Epicor PMA is the only solution that enables service and repair providers to predict future repairs for any popular passenger vehicle, according to the company. The solution puts real-time, AI-enriched forecasts at the fingertips of vehicle service professionals as they are writing estimates, interacting with technicians, and advising their customers.
“Imagine taking your vehicle to a tire dealership for new tires and being informed that there’s a good chance you will experience a water pump failure in the near future. This holistic vehicle repair intelligence can help shops dramatically strengthen customer confidence and trust, and ultimately, accelerate profitable growth,” Hardin said.
Epicor PMA uses web “listener” and MicroStrategy HyperCard technologies to generate vehicle-specific service ranking reports that are presented via the user’s mobile device or web browser. The service writer or other user can click on the HyperCard to access a comprehensive PMA service dossier covering replacement rate information for more than 100 part and service types specific to the customer’s vehicle year/make/model/engine.
This instant repair intelligence offers value at the service desk, in guiding vehicle inspections, deploying repair reminders, selling extended warranties, and when consulting customers who are considering the purchase of a used vehicle, among other situations.
“Because they have so many choices, today’s digitally enabled consumers often need additional reasons to return to and trust a vehicle service provider,” Hardin said. “Epicor Predictive Maintenance Assistant enables shops to differentiate themselves through data-driven intelligence that helps take the guesswork out of the car ownership and repair experience.”
