The latest additions expand coverage to more than 18.7 million vehicles in operation, according to the company.
New braking products include 22 different part numbers for TRW brake-pad sets for 9.7 million vehicles in operation, including the Cadillac Escalade, Mazda CX-30, Jeep Gladiator, Hyundai Sonata, Ford Bronco and Ford Ranger, among others.
ZF Aftermarket also vastly expanded its offerings for TRW X-Tend powered lift supports, adding 49 new part numbers for more than 9 million more vehicles in operation
This includes a range of vehicle brands, such as BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Volvo and others.

In link hidden, please login to view, we gave leaders from the major distribution groups and trade associations an opportunity to reflect on the most critical issues affecting the automotive aftermarket. For the second year in a row, we let distribution leaders “riff” on these topics in their own words.
Here’s what Robert Roos, president/CEO of the Pronto Automotive Distribution Network, had to say on the current state of the aftermarket.
When I stop and take a minute to reflect on the current state of the automotive aftermarket, I am both overwhelmed and amazed at the amount of change and innovation taking place at all levels of distribution today. Never in my nearly 40 years in this industry have I experienced such a fast-paced and significant number of challenges facing our members, customers and supplier partners.
We are faced with emerging technologies; the battle for access to data; unprecedented consolidation at all levels of the supply chain; and the challenge of labor shortages – all while attempting to fight the day-to-day battles to win business against increasing competition from a variety of different fronts. And yet our industry continues to thrive. Resiliency is the word I like to use when talking about the automotive aftermarket. How would anyone predict the kind of results our industry continues to show in the midst of economic challenges, supply chain issues and a variety of other pressures we face?
I believe it is our ability to adapt and change at such a rapid pace that allows us to continue to thrive. We are a close-knit community and while we may compete against one another, we also know when to work together for the betterment of all. We work together to increase involvement in the issues that challenge all of us today, whether it is supporting the Repair Act to ensure our access to the necessary data to maintain everyone’s ability to keep safe vehicles on the road at a reasonable cost; working to increase awareness of our labor shortage within the industry; or creating new ways to make our industry safer for the environment and increase our sustainability footprint.
To continue the success of the past, we must remain alert to these issues and others that may develop as our industry continues its rapid paced transformation. We have a responsibility to keep our entire industry informed of these very important issues. Thankfully, we are better prepared to do this today than ever before. We have our industry associations, program groups, various networking groups and others spreading the word. We have industry events that encourage participation and educate attendees on the important issues of the day. I am confident that the automotive aftermarket of today is ready for what the future holds. I am proud of our industry, what we have accomplished and those things we will accomplish in the future. We are prepared to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow head-on and with a passion unlike any other.
What is the current state of the aftermarket? In a sentence I would say our industry is economically sound, poised for the future and ready to keep consumers on the road no matter what challenges lie ahead. In a word, my answer would be resilient.

The Aftermarket Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA), a community of the Auto Care Association, announced its pledge of support to Northwood University’s University of the Aftermarket by donating four scholarships for industry professionals to participate in the university’s upcoming Leadership 2.0 program.
The Leadership 2.0 program is a cornerstone in the industry’s efforts to foster the development of a new generation of visionary executives who will help drive the aftermarket to new levels.
“The University of the Aftermarket’s Leadership 2.0 program are two of the most valuable weeks an aftermarket professional can participate in to enhance their personal and professional skill set,” said Ashlee Arnold, vice president at Arnold Oil Company of Austin, and chairperson for AWDA. “A big part of what makes the Leadership 2.0 program special is having the perspective from all channels of our industry, including the shop owners. This makes our entire industry stronger.”
AWDA continues its leadership position within the industry by advocating for and supporting events and initiatives that support the entire industry. 2023 marks the continuation of a years-long contribution to the Leadership 2.0 program, a program that is attended by all different segments of our industry from manufacturers to retailers and distributors, technicians, as well as agencies and any other aftermarket professional.
“Northwood University’s University of the Aftermarket is pleased to announce our collaboration with AWDA by promoting professional development within our aftermarket industry,” said Thomas Litzinger, executive director for the University of the Aftermarket. “We recognize AWDA’s tremendous support by acknowledging their willingness to provide scholarships to aftermarket professionals who can personally benefit from our Leadership 2.0 coursework, but also ultimately provide value to their organization and our industry. We appreciate AWDA’s vision for education and their commitment to developing the future leaders of our industry.”
The 2023-2024 AWDA Leadership 2.0 scholarship recipients are:

For the second year in a row, we let distribution leaders “riff” on these topics in their own words.
Here’s what Sanjay Patel, president of Carquest North America, had to say on the subjects of collaboration and growth opportunities.
Carquest is built around an unrivaled passion for the customer and dedication to serving communities. As a support team, when you look at our role as a trusted advisor and business ally for our store partners, collaboration is of the utmost importance.
We have an incredibly diverse business. Our store partners serve DIYers and professional shops, and many support local farmers with heavy machinery and agricultural needs. With this variety of customers, it’s important that we collaborate, share information and understand what works best for our store partners.
We host quarterly meetings with our independent advisory council, two of them each year in person. This is a diverse group of store partners from across the country serving markets large and small. Through these meetings, we’re able to understand what drives their business and what they need from us to succeed. We’re able to learn from their best practices, and share what we’ve learned from the company side that can be a positive for their business.
Our brand also is committed to creating growth opportunities for members of the Carquest family. One example is our second-annual Women of Carquest event taking place this September, where many of our outstanding female independent owners, managers and team members will connect with each other and our company leaders for sessions on networking, leadership and career growth. Plus, they’re able to build and strengthen relationships among each other, so they can learn new ways to grow their business.
Community involvement has been a shared focus for Carquest and our store partners. Last year, we asked our independent store partners about the causes that resonated with them and their customers. The resounding answer was supporting members of the military, veterans and their families. With that in mind, we aligned with Hire Heroes USA, a nonprofit dedicated to finding meaningful employment and career guidance for military veterans entering the workforce.
We have a tremendous amount of owned assets available for our owners to better entrench their businesses with their customers. More owners are leveraging Carquest Technical Institute and Worldpac Training Institute to hold in-person training events for their customers at Carquest store locations. As EVs, hybrids, ADAS and other emerging technologies become more prominent, these training opportunities help store partners and their customers enhance their rapport and further their knowledge of today’s vehicles.
I believe collaboration is at its purest form when we’re in the field. I recently had the privilege of joining our Carquest field leaders in Nebraska, where we put more than 1,300 miles on a rental car visiting independent owners. Spending time in market and seeing how the magic happens alongside our store partners is motivating. It gets me excited about the present and future of our Carquest brand.
