No. 49 team were poised to take on a busy week of High Limit Racing action, but Tuesday night’s event at Davenport Speedway in Iowa was rained out. That left two nights at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Mo., on the schedule, and an opportunity for Sweet and the NAPA team to showcase their skills to fans and competitors alike.

At the Rayce Rudeen Foundation event opener Friday night at I-70, Sweet posted the sixth-quickest time overall in qualifying with a lap of 13.768 seconds on the half-mile dirt oval. The Big Cat then dominated his heat race, taking the checkered flag and securing his spot in the FK Rod Ends Dash. With the help of his daughter Savannah, Sweet drew the third starting spot for the seven-lap dash to set the field for the evening’s feature. The NAPA driver held his ground to finish third, then lined up third for the feature. Sweet was able to pick up a spot in Friday’s main event. He crossed the line in the runner-up position.

On Saturday night, Sweet was already locked into heat race competition thanks to his podium finish on Friday. The NAPA No. 49 was second across the line after starting fourth in the heat race. Sweet kept the energy level high in Saturday’s dash and finished third. The NAPA team went on to battle hard against tough competition in the main event. After a late-race caution, Sweet spun the tires on the restart and fell back to fifth. He maintained that position when the checkered flag flew.

Despite the rain-out at Davenport, Sweet and the NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 team extended their points lead with the runner-up and top-five finishes. Sweet now leads the standings with a solid, 65-point advantage over second place. Eagle Raceway, a favorite from the 2023 season, is next on the schedule with a $55,000-to-win event.

      Advance, NASCAR Partnership Boosts Short Track Racing

      As the 2025 NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series heats up, Advance Auto Parts and NASCAR announced a new collaboration. The Advance NASCAR partnership will support local short track racing through “Advance Auto Parts Night at the Races” in 17 markets.
      The program aims to boost support for local tracks, drivers and their communities throughout the season. During select race weeks, fans from Colorado National Speedway to Seekonk Speedway will experience special events. These will happen both at the tracks and at Advance Auto Parts retail stores nearby.

      APH Outstanding Team Members Recognized

      Automotive Parts Headquarters (APH) recently hosted its annual conference with 500 attendees. Store owners, managers, sales representatives, suppliers and support staff came together.
      Held under the theme “Say Yes,” the event spotlighted 2024 accomplishments.

      An awards banquet was a major highlight of the conference. APH leadership personally honored top performers across multiple categories.
      CEO Corey Bartlett presented the awards with key leaders. These included Jim Gruber, general manager of BENCO Equipment; Lonnie Kocmick, president of Refinish Supply Co.; Jason Vogel, president of APH Stores; Tim Gardner, vice president of stores, western division; and Rick Lease, vice president of stores, eastern division.
      APH’s store operations team and support center staff selected the recipients after thorough evaluations.
      CEO Commends ‘Say Yes’ Spirit and Team Dedication
      “We are delighted to celebrate our outstanding team members who truly embody the ‘Say Yes’ spirit,” said Bartlett.

      Store Manager of the Year Among APH Outstanding Team Members
      The evening’s top honor went to Matthew Shupick, who earned the 2024 Store Manager of the Year award. He has managed the Eagle Butte, South Dakota, location since 2015.
      “Matthew quickly demonstrated his leadership skills, rising to manager in record time,” said Gardner. “He is genuine, down-to-earth and has made a lasting impact on both his team and his community. Driven by a strong sense of duty, Matthew’s commitment to his team’s success and the community that raised him is truly inspiring.”
